About Us
We offer music lessons to families in the Edmonton area. Lessons are offered in our many home studios as well as in students’ homes. Our teachers travel to your home or you can go to their home studios.
About the Owner
Karla Key founded Piano Time Music in 2009. She loved teaching piano and decided to followed her dream of helping other pianists follow their desires to teach. After two years, over 110 students are learning piano with teachers throughout the Edmonton area.
Karla is currently studying for the Grade 10 Practical Piano Exam, along with the required theory courses, with plans to complete an ARCT* Diploma in Piano Pedagogy with the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Karla believes that music should be fun! Her bubbly personality and practice of teaching
through encouragement, makes learning piano a relaxed and self-
- Bachelor of Arts Degree (Sociology), University of Alberta. Studies included Music Theory and Music History courses.
- Diploma in Arts and Cultural Management from Grant MacEwan University.
- Currently studying for the Grade 10 Practical Piano Exam, along with the required theory courses, with plans to complete an ARCT* Diploma in Piano Pedagogy with the Royal Conservatory of Music.
- Member of the Alberta Piano Teachers’ Association and the Music Teachers’ National Association, and the St. Albert and Area Piano Teachers’ Association.

Education/Experience
- Completed Grade nine with the Royal Conservatory of Music.
- Completed Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Music Theory examinations with the Royal Conservatory of Music. Currently preparing for Harmony and music history examinations.
